It is truly remarkable how much progress the Grand Challenge teams have made in a relatively short period of time,

Harvey believed in one world, he believed in working for world peace, he believed that we are all one family. A year or so before he died, my brother Jon interviewed him, and during the course of the interview he said that he supposed his original concept had gotten lost when he made his dramatic decision to remove the carved pieces and continue with Opus 40 as an immense abstraction. But in making his commitment to what Opus 40 became, I believe that he found the way to express sculptural thought, rather than expressing thought translated into sculpture, and that Opus 40 is his true statement of his beliefs, and everything he held dear.

I spent the day yesterday playing music with two of the members of the music ensemble I play in (one was the director) — with some others joining in for several pieces. But, in my own defense — we played challenging music; and ever since our concert, I’ve been practicing flutes instead of recorders, and traditional music more than early music. I was able to remember these things about myself and these players, and I was able to appreciate their gracious patience with me, without ever slipping into a kind of negative, grumpy interpretation of the situation. They just wanted to play through a bunch of music and hear how it sounded. They enjoyed our getting together to play music. But I also saw: I would rather be in practice on all of the instruments I play, at every moment, so that I can contribute to making a day like yesterday as good as it can be.

About all I knew of Dad’s childhood was that his dad was a dentist in Idaho Falls who drank too much of his own anesthetic, that they raised foxes for fur, and that his mom was a crack shot with a .22 rifle. Dad was not the kind of man you sat down with and said, Tell me about your childhood, Dad. That would have been a tad close for Dad’s comfort.Eventually, we discovered that it wasn’t so much that his life was all that bad; Thus, to accomplish what Dad accomplished is nothing short of miraculous, and his legacy has been taken up now by a group of very interesting offspring. My vision of Dad in heaven nowadays consists mostly of Dad tapping old dead ancestors on the shoulder and saying, Go talk to my son.

I used to think that I was supposed to rip free from suburban life and be some type of radical missionary that would change the world. The hardest thing for me to do right now would be to consider my current situation to be the perfect situation, and to realize that I am connected to the people around me- the people I live with, the people I love. And I will spend time with Jesus and ask Him to make me humble and to use my faithful, scheduled, and fairly small days to please us both.

However, this immunity only applies in federal court and does not extend to state court.Typically if a federal prosecutor grants a witness immunity in exchange for testimony, it is customary for the state not to file charges and vice versa. I think it just makes her look like an idiot who is more concerned about jeopardizing a major federal criminal case for her own political gain than in respecting traditional ties between state and federal prosecutors.

If the Braves are willing to limit his innings and keep him around until September, he’s pitched well enough to earn his mil.I think the Braves should pick up Smoltz’s option. And I think they ultimately will. Unless they decide to give up on 2007, or unless the messy transfer of ownership causes them to lower payroll, I think they’ll keep Smoltz around. The Florida Marlins don’t have any options pending for 2007.Tom Glavine, Mets2007 Age: 412007 Option: .5 mil. This means that his player option will bump up to .5 mil and his team option to 4 mil. That’s a whole lot of money to spend on a 41-year-old pitcher. I think the club should decline his option. And my guess is that the club will decline their option. He has 288 right now, and New York would give him the run support to easily notch the 10 or 12 necessary next year to reach the milestone.Jamie Moyer, Phillies2007 Age: 442007 Option: Mutual option; Moyer is a big risk, as is any 44-year-old, and his pitching style isn’t a great fit for hitter-friendly Citizen’s Bank Park, but if he comes cheap, he’s worth the risk.I think the Phillies should exercise the option, but only if it’s a low-end deal. And I think the Phillies will. option vests with 450 PAs (plate appearances) in 2006This club is not short of corner outfielders, and so I normally wouldn’t recommend picking up Conine’s option. isn’t a whole lot, but you’d like to have room for more on your bench than a -million fifth outfielder with few remaining abilities.Conine’s option has already vested. The Phillies also have an option on Aaron Rowand for a .25 mil. And he ain’t getting any younger.I think the Nats should decline his option. And I think the Nats will decline his option. This year so far, Drese has earned his .75 million by throwing 8.2 innings with a 5.19 ERA (8 walks, 5 strikeouts).I think the Nats should decline his option. And I think they will. His durability and his effectiveness have gone down the tubes since then.I think the club should decline his option. I don’t know the exact nature of the mutual option, but if the Cubs can decline their part of the option and buy him out for mil., they’re much better off. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if Ramirez jumps the sinking ship and enters a free agent market devoid of an impact third baseman.Jason Johnson, Reds2007 Age: 332007 Option: .5 mutual option, plus incentivesYes, the Reds are desperate for pitching, which is why GM Wayne Krivsky has traded for every pitcher in the Western Hemisphere not nailed down (rumors that the club entered negotiations with 87-year-old Bob Feller are thus far unsubstantiated). If you think defense is more important than hitting, then of course you’re going to finish below .500 and self-destruct your way out of the Wild Card race.I think the Reds should pick up Aurilia’s option. I don’t think Aurilia will hit nearly as well as he did this year, but he should still wear out lefties, and he’s a handy guy to have on the bench. And of course the Reds will pick up his option. Here’s hoping GM Tim Purpura spends it wisely.I think the Astros should decline Bagwell’s option, and of course they will.Trever Miller, Astros2007 Age: 342007 Option: .3 mil. mutual option (option vests with 50 appearances in 2006)Miller has already appeared in 56 games this year, so consider this option vested. But considering how much closers are overvalued in today’s market, he’s a great bargain for a team looking to break through to contender status.Damian Miller, Brewers2007 Age: 372007 Option: mutual option; And while I couldn’t really advocate dropping even more cash (.75 mil.) on Miller at age 37, it may be better than any other catching option the cash-strapped Brewers have.I think the Brewers should decline Miller’s option. Not that he’s that bad a bargain, but his skills are diminishing as he gets into his late 30’s.But I think the Brewers will exercise his option. But ultimately, I think he’ll opt for the reasonably-priced veteran, even as he does get older.Jeromy Burnitz, Pirates2007 Age: 382007 Option: mil. mutual option (00,000 buyout if club declines)Would you believe that Burnitz is now the highest-paid player on the Pirates, making .7 million this year? Edmonds is an injury risk, yes, but because his upside is so good, and so desperately needed in St. Louis, I think he’s worth the money.I think the Cardinals should pick up Edmonds’ option. But unless the Cardinals can find a good, young, very productive source of offense to replace Edmonds, then he’s worth more than whatever Preston Wilson-clone they’re likely to replace him with. But I think the Cardinals will decline his option. And unless he convinces Walt Jockett to take a hit, the Cardinals will most assuredly decline the option.I think the Cardinals should decline the option. And I think they will, just because million/year is a lot of money for a moderately-talented center fielder who can’t field the position anymore.NL WESTLuis Gonzalez, Diamondbacks2007 Age: 392007 Option: 0 mil. It depends on how sentimental GM Josh Byrnes is, and if Gonzo still wants to play another year if it means taking a near-50% pay cut.Jeff DaVanon, Diamondbacks2007 Age: 332007 Option: player option based on active days on the ML roster; if he reached 180 days, the option is .25 mil.I don’t know where to go to look up a player’s service days, but my guess it that DaVanon, who hasn’t played in the majors since August 5, has only managed enough days to bring his option up to the million range. That said, you could do a lot worse than to have Jeff DaVanon as your fourth outfielder. He’s no great shakes — but for less than mil., the Rockies will take him.I think the Rockies will exercise his option. And I think they will. In truth, I honestly don’t know what the Rockies will do — it all depends on their disposition toward King, who’s pitched relatively well this season (3.85 ERA, which isn’t all too impressive in the new Coors Field, with an unimpressive 16:18 BB:K ratio.Jose Mesa, Rockies2007 Age: 412007 Option: mil. I was waiting for Jose to get out of the shower.Jose The Ayatollah Mesa: I will kill you and your children!and…Rockies Manager Clint Hurdle: I think the reason we lost this game 7-6 was because Jose came into the game in the 9th inning with a 6-0 lead and gave up 7 runs.Mesa: I will roast your entrails and sautee your spleen!Just a thought.I think the Rockies should decline Mesa’s option. But I think the Rockies will pick it up. I don’t foresee many clubs clamoring for Kim’s services.I really can’t comment for certain on whether the Rockies should — or will — pick up Kim’s option without knowing how much money it’s for, or even if it’s a club option at all.Mike DeJean, Rockies2007 Age: 362007 Option: .5 mil. 50,000 buyout** –mutual option becomes player option if DeJean is tradedBoy, the Rockies like their options, especially with relievers. Suffice to say that he’s not worth a .5 million gamble this year.I think the Rockies should decline DeJean’s option,And I think they will, if only because his year-long injury has forced the issue.Eric Gagne, Dodgers2007 Age: 312007 Option: 2 mil. Now, at age 31 and two years removed from his last healthy season, it’s doubtful that he’ll ever be as good as he once was.I think the Dodgers should decline Gagne’s option. 2 million is too much money for someone with Gagne’s injury history, especially when they have several good (and cheap) young hurlers like Takaishi Saito — who has already taken Gagne’s place as closer and done well. And I think the Dodgers will decline his option. But after two straight years of nothing for 9 million, I think the Dodgers will decline and try to re-sign him to an incentive-based deal. The Dodgers are also on the hook for a 00,000 buyout of Jose Cruz, Jr.’s contract, after designating him for assignment this August.Mike Cameron, Padres2007 Age: 342007 Option: mil. That said, though, million isn’t a lot to ask for a good hitter at a key defensive position on a team that really needs one.I think the Padres should pick up Cameron’s option. And I think they will. He’s been the best player on the whole team this year, although that says more about the disappointing nature of the club than it does about Cameron’s prowess.Mike Piazza, Padres2007 Age: 382007 Option: mil. He’s such a defensive liability and such a candidate for a major injury that we just can’t guarantee he’ll keep hitting like David Ortiz on the road.I think the Padres should decline Piazza’s option. But the acquisition of Josh Bard makes that a much less likely move.Which is why I think the Padres will decline his option. There’s always the chance that the Padres will take the easy choice and bring back the All-Star who can still hit, but I think that the acquisition of Bard makes it easier for them to cut Piazza loose.Scott Linebrink, Padres2007 Age: 302007 Option: .75 million club optionLinebrink’s 2007 option vests with 100 appearances in 2005-06; Saying that 42-year-old center fielders don’t age well is like saying that Bill O’Reilly isn’t a member of the Al Franken Appreciation Society.I think the Giants should decline Finley’s option. And I think they will.

So I took it upon myself to ask EVERY cop why the mormons got two hours but the southerners, and to be honest, every one of the 5-0 had a great sense of humor with the exception of one who after I said, why do the mormons get two hours and we only get one” to which this wonderful individual responded, “you have about two minutes to get yourself out before I force you out.” So after the game we all decided to head to a bar by Fenway Park, which, if you’ve ever been to Boston is on the other end of the city.So we get on the train after succesfully drinking 18-30 packs of beer and head to the bar. We get to the Fenway park area where all the bars are and when we walk up to the door where half of our group already was, one gentleman walked up to the bouncer and possibly stumbled, looked drunk, I dont know what he did, but we saw nothing, nor were we drunk due to the fact that we hadnt had any beverages in at least an hour and a half. I don’t know if it was the heartbreaking loss to BC or just the fact that I had to chug 194 beers in just three total hours of drinking, or it is the fact that I’m normally like that after that many beers, I don’t know.

Sermon for November 2 (Proper 26 B) Lectionary ReadingsDeuteronomy 6: 1-9Hebrews 7: 23-28Mark 12: 28-34 This is an interesting day in the life of the Church, particularly in our own Anglican Communion, and especially close to home in our very own Episcopal Church USA.For today, tucked as it is between our observance of All Saints and All Souls days, is the day Canon Gene Robinson is being ordained Bishop - an act that some view as very healing and others view as extremely hurtful. On this day which the Lord has made, a mortal wound may be delivered to our Church. Or a period of destructive dishonesty may be one step closer to ending. Or we may be able to observe, as King George of England did on July 4, 1776, that nothing of any great importance happened on this day.We will really only know today’s importance some time in the future. For the present all we can know is that some people are experiencing it with great joy and others with great sorrow. But it strikes me as a most intriguing coincidence that today the lectionary puts before us the Summary of the Law - the ancient creed of the Synogogue. The Anglican Church of Canada describes Hear O Israel, this morning’s Gospel reading, as the compliment to the Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed is the faith of the church as teaching, Hear O Israel is the faith of the church as action.Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one

The flight attendant had to get up out of his seat and run over to tell him to sit down and wait for the seatbelt sign to turn off before getting up again. Not too long after that, two giggly girls were up and out of their seats, waiting for the plane to be towed into our gate so they could disembark. I just wanted to tell the giggly girls to back the hell off. When the seatbelt sign finally dinged off, I was up and out of my seat, reaching for the overhead bin, and trying to edge the giggly girls out of my rightful way. When we actually got off the plane, it was then fun for me to walk crookedly enough to get in the way of the girl I cut off, preventing her from being able to catch up with her friend. After that short-lived satisfaction, I began to wonder why I felt so territorial about my aisle space and the fact that it was only fair that people get off the plane in the order they are seated.

Array-ne September 24, 2005 Tonight went with Melissa to meet Evgeny at Red Square; and though we were late, Evgeny was there sure enough, holding a bowl of kashi and carrying his old backpack. So yes Americans may put a premium on size, but some Russians obsess over it as a point of pride.

-ne September 24, 2005 After a long day of learning Russian conventions, Russian culture, and Russian itself, I jumped on the metro with a crowd of Americans (we’re at the farthest possible Metro stop to the south of the city on the purple line) to meet Evgeny at red square again. One thing first: I learned today that, in addition to this peculiar Russian obsession with size, Russians tend to place more faith in the individual than in the group than Americans do, despite our claims to rugged individualism and their claims to communism, etc. Had conversation with Eugene about sincerity, honesty, etc—being true to one’s self, and the importance of this in conversation, and the importance of conversation in this. The difference is direction: sincerity is glasnost with others, frankness is demanding that others are sincere with themselves.

-ne AWE 2005 – The 11th year dazzles with over 30,000 people on the Asian wedding weekend of the year!By Ashanti OMkarThe Asian Wedding Exhibition hits it’s 11th year, with an absolutely jam packed and colourful event, having used FNIK PR this year, who have gone all the way to make it the success it was, in Wembley, from billboards on the London buses to ample coverage, no doubt many a bride and groom decided to make their wedding dreams come true by visiting on the cold February weekend. The show as a whole celebrated all things colourful, traditional and modern and we hope that not only members of the Asian community enjoyed the two days but also people of all different backgrounds who visited the exhibition found something creative, which may enhance their wedding in anyway shape or form.”Articulating a very valid point indeed, from Yogesh, as weddings not only have a huge impact on the Asian culture, but modern British Asians are finding that there are services available that they never imagined, to make their special day and their honeymoon to be highly customised to their particular tastes.

However, I have never backeddown from issuing these warnings for two very good reasons:One was because of what the Bible had to say concerning thematter, and second, because of what my research hadrevealed. In the book of Leviticus, Chapter 17 and verse 11, theBible tells us:

What was surprising when I turned the leafy corner at the Carter Barron was how many folks were already lined up. It was 10:30 am, Sunday morning. I was number 61. At 12:00, the box office would open to hand out coveted tickets to the final free performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream.” Shakespeare isnt my favorite read, but this is the summer of discovery. Thus, I pulled on a straw hat, opened the Post, and began to wait. Not too surprising the crowd. Lots of ol fartsy Cleveland Park types. Dupont Circle was clearly represented, and I overheard talk about Cheverly and Takoma Park. Within seconds, the conversation turned to real estate and I cringed. While Im thrilled for the citys renaissance, Im bitter Im priced out of the market. Is Washington for natives anymore? A future post…The line itself reflected the market: every two or three minutes, the line became longer, distance between the end and the box office greater, and the crowd antsier. Glad I wasnt working on CP time, as I turned and saw folks disappearing around the bend and into the brush. But not with the same intentions as

-ne When President Bush urged in his radio address over the weekend that Congress “set aside partisan differences” and pass an energy bill that will lower gas prices by reducing our growing dependence on foreign oil, he was resorting to his administration’s SOP (standard operating propaganda). In its original form, the National Energy Plan, authored in 2001 by the National Energy Policy Development Group headed by Dick Cheney, was about increasing energy supplies to attain “energy security.” Though the Cheney plan paid lip service to the need to “modernize conservation,” whatever that means, and “include renewables,” whatever that means, the basic sales pitch warned of “a fundamental imbalance between supply and demand.” “This imbalance, if allowed to continue, will inevitably undermine our economy, our standard of living, and our national security,” the report threatened.

tous des cons,le blog d’alx: 25 aout

Array I would prefer an online magazine subscription though, so I don’t have a bunch of magazines needing a home and taking up space.Soup Describe your living room (furnishings, colors, etc.).Our living room is on our things to do list. The living room has a hideous blue carpet that ends at the old linolium in the dining room. Cashew tree, Phoenix date palm, coconut palm, canary ilsand date palm, Fig tree (real fig tree that grows figs), Ponderosa Lemon Tree, Gold rush bush, corn tree, regular lemon tree, Weeping fig, another larger corn tree, and a banana tree. As far as furnishings go there is a dark blue vinyl couch (That I reupholstered myself), a glide rocker and ottoman, a really cool coffee table that the top raises up and acts like a tv tray and matching end table, tv stand and Tv plus stereo, and a DVD holder.

Then I tried to get the amount I owe lowered to an acceptable level (I had no income at the time they say I owe over 2500$ for 5 months of child support, while my ex-husband only has to pay 60$ a week for our 3 kids). She told the man I shouldn’t have missed my court date and that never happened, the lying whore. So then it took the bank an extra day to post the money back into my account (which they charged me 50$, so now I was out 100 bucks), even though they still had the money, and it made me overdrawn, which cost me another 30$. I had to drive 25 miles to the main branch today because the branch near my home is run by idiots, and at least got them to remove the 30$ overdraft change. To top it all off my paycheck arrived (almost) on time, but instead of the usual printed check, I got the non-negotiable payroll advice that comes when you have direct deposit, and I never signed up for direct deposit in the first fucking place! He told me he started perving my cam after that, but since he only chatted in the French and German chat rooms, our paths never crossed. He finally purchased a webcam recently, and last week popped into my chatroom The Pussy Café, his first time in an English speaking one. But yesterday while we were camming and I had my ass in the air and up in the cam (it’s not a very comfortable position for my fat ass), he typed stick your finger in your ass and I immediately replied no.

A busy week of freelance work leaves me feeling a bit lethargic and flat assed…not to mention I am now sleeping in piles of dirty, unkempt laundry with a cool new congregation of mice that look relatively disease-free.

so look at him kindly and dont forget that what you have now is due to him.our parents sometimes dont sleep at night thinking about you. looking at some of the parents here they long for their childrens’ independence of them and as soon as they are old enough the kids are ’sent out to the real world’ aka kicked out of the house. The Road Not Taken by Robert FrostTwo roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry i could not travel bothand be one traveller, long i stoodand looked down one as far as i couldto where it bent in the undergrowth. Then took the other, as just as fairand having perhaps the better claimbecause it was grassy and wanted wear;though as for that passing therehad worn them really about the same, and both that morning equally layin leaves no steps had trodden black.Oh, i kept the first for another day!yet knowing how way leads on to way,i doubted if i should ever come backi shall be telling this with a sighsomewhere ages and ages hence:two roads diverged in a wood, and i-i took the one less travelled by,and that has made all the difference.

I saw the mag lying on my bed this morning and I realised how much I missed school. I missed going to Cleanroom, donning the suit and giving those newbies a haughty look. That is until both of them went in and started on our project, Dr Prem then realised both of them are not his students.Who can forget the time during SIP when we always go Dexian’s house to play blackjack instead of staying in school to work on our projects? Where lecturers compete with students to earn money for needy students.Who can also forget dragging our feet to class, not doing tutorials, going to lectures to eat and chit chat, skipping class to slack or go out, going lab only to leave 30 min later? I missed Michelle and Angeline, who’s always the one to greet me in the morning during SIP and always approving my LOA during the period. I missed Lily, whom I’ve affectionately called Auntie, and whom always call me when she has a tuition offer. I missed all the technicians over at Micro-electronics CU, all who had scolded me, chased after me and cleared my shits without complaints. I missed rushing for class in the mornings, especially for a 8am lesson. I missed going for smoking breaks with my musketeers or John and Saleha.

Micah and Katie Peterson: Honey Moon Adventures Day 7

October 9th, 2008 by admin

Array Time to open up my eyes and just accept that Notebook and I are not meant to be together. What really irks me is that he’s the first guy in a long time that I’ve liked! I could just throw myself a little pity party every time that I think about that. And this time around, I felt like there was some kind of hope, that maybe I would find someone to be with. I wish there was something that I could do to make it happen.I know I deserve better than someone that doesn’t even respect me enough to call me and tell me he’s not going to meet up with me-but what else is there?

The enitre season had seen us undefeated and we reached the final only to be beaten by a 1st Division player with an orange shirt and a little asian woman who could run the legs off Forest Gump.I know there are greater tragedies in the world - New Orleans, Aids in Africa, Poverty in Sth America - but at 7:02 last night at an oval in St Leonards the world came crumbling down on team Zion. For coming second they gave us a blue coffee mug……I’m not sure why?craig

However, she feels like many parents do not value education, at least as much as they should. She says shes constantly telling her students that education is fundemental, is something they need, is something they should want. She says that as far as beliefs, hers are mainly not the same as her students (she did not want to go into this) However, she says that she respects everyones beliefs and that respect is very important. The most important values in the classroom are culture, ecuacation, family and faith (belief in God). Now that I look back on it, I wish I had gotten into some things more, for example, asked her to mention more examples about how these children learn about their culture. Of course its a sad reality to see that parents dont value education. To me, they just did not have the opportunity to even learn to value it because a lot of times you learn the value of education when you are going to school yourself.

WE packed up and headed off to the park of Banff after a great bowl of alphabet cereal. After Katie finished her pot of coffee…..she ran down the mountain saying ‘hi’ to every person going by. After a wonderful garlic sauce supper, Katie tricked me into going downtown by saying that she felt bloated and needed a walk…Little did I know that she only wanted ice-cream! (Cause Katie didn’t get any ice-cream on our walk down town) After that we sat in the hot tub on a cloudless night, stared at the stars and ate ice cream…wow what a day!
